LWSC Christmas Tree Lighting

Today's Tree Lighting was such a festive occasion. The great tree on stage in the Victory Room was the center of attention as the program began. Edward Gilmore, the choir's Chaplain, opened the program with prayer. Elayne Hunter, LWSC's Facility Manager, set the mood for the event to begin as she ventured from the stage out into the audience encouraging LWSC members to enjoy the spirit of the season and join the choir in singing, 'Joy to the World' and 'Deck the Halls With Boughs of Holly'.

After the audience participation, the LWSC Choir sang 'Amen (Gwendolyn Thomas), Jesus O What a Wonderful Child (Sadie Banks), and Silent Night (Shirley Lovingood). The lights on the Christmas tree came to life as Andra Corinaldi sang 'O Holy Night'. Following her solo, Lloyd Alaman (LWSC Choir President) sang 'White Christmas', and, during his rendition of this song, he encouraged the audience and choir to sing along with him as he transitioned to the "Temptations" version of this great Christmas classic.

Next up was "A Charlie Brown Christmas/Christmas Time is Here", a song made popular by the classic Christmas cartoon (Maudell Marable, Lead). This song was a reminder to all that Christmas time is truly here and it is a special time of year.

We wanted to end the program with another reminder as to what this season is truly about... Jesus, because He is known by many names but it all boils down to Him being Emmanuel... Wonderful... Counselor... Mighty God... Prince of Peace... Jesus... Rock of Our Salvation... King. This song, 'Call Him Emmanuel', was lead by Rose Miles.

Our Facility Manager, Ms. Hunter, returned to the stage after this selection and gave very encouraging remarks to all, thanked everyone for all they had done and expressed her wishes to everyone to enjoy the holidays and stay safe. She then joined in with the choir singing "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" as they ventured out into the audience and exchanged hugs, kisses, well-wishes and handshakes.

What a glorious time we had!
